Notes, correspondence, newspaper clippings and journal articles, etc. used as source material for the author's book "The last firebase" on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (1987). Includes sound cassettes of interviews conducted at the Memorial shortly after it opened as well as recordings of readings and concerts held at the Wall. Also includes post-1987 articles about the influence of the Memorial, anniversary celebrations, etc.

Lydia M. Fish is the director of the Vietnam Veterans Oral History and Folklore Project of the Department of Anthropology at Buffalo State College in New York. The purpose of the project is to "collect, preserve, and make more widely known the folksongs of the Vietnam War." In 1991, the project published a CD entitled "In Country: Folk Songs of Americans in the vietnam War," and consisting of 27 "songs made by the men who served in th evietnam War."
